Artistís Statement

I create one-of-a-kind, hand-woven wall hangings that incorporate found natural objects such as leaves, twigs, shells and grasses into the weave structure. I weave on a four-harness loom using plainweave and overshot weaving techniques with a variety of fibers such as silk, rayon, cotton and wool. Through my weaving, I create a peaceful environment for the natural things that inspire me, so they can continue to exist in a setting that enhances their natural beauty. The medium of fiber allows me to work with pure color and texture which are the elements I find intriguing about the natural items I collect. As I integrate found objects into the warp threads of my weavings, I am also integrating what I find beautiful in the natural world with my own creative process.
